Our Focus on Copper Cup Coffee

By Crystal Laureano

If you reside in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania there is a good chance that you have heard of Copper Cup Coffee.  Their delicious drinks, food, aesthetic locations, and not to mention their drive-thrus, set them apart in our coffee-loving community.  Recently, they’ve opened a third location in Mount Joy, and the locals (i.e. this blogger) couldn’t be happier!

Copper Cup is the featured coffee shop for February 2024 as part of the new FIL coffee-inspired calendar.

The building of this newest Copper Cup location was built in 1801 and had been used as a bank until the owners of the coffee shop purchased the property. Preserving some of the building’s history, they kept the old safe as a focal point in the cafe, where you can sit and enjoy your coffee (or tea) with friends.  The coffee shop has seating for 45 guests, making it the perfect place to meet up with friends new and old. Its tall ceilings, large windows, and light and bright interior are sure to brighten anyone’s day.

The husband and wife owners, Jeremy and Grace Fisher, seem to put a lot of thought into their café locations and how to make them the go-to coffee shop destination.  In addition to the convenient drive-thru, each location also features a conference room, which is great for the numerous remote workers in the area. If you are in need of a small meeting space, reserve their meeting room for your next group meeting, which can be reserved for up to 3 hours per group.

When I stopped by on an early September morning, the sun was shining brightly through their large, gorgeous windows and I was greeted by some of the friendliest baristas around.  The new fall menu had recently been rolled out, so I obviously had to try out their iced pumpkin macchiato.  When I tell you I felt like I should be wearing a cozy flannel wandering around a pumpkin patch or picking apples, I’m not kidding. The flavor profiles of the pumpkin had a hint of cinnamon and was perfectly balanced in its sweetness when combined with the milk and espresso in the macchiato!  I hate to say it, being someone who looks forward to the PSL all year long, but I think I prefer the macchiato to the famous pumpkin latté… plus the fact that I’m usually an iced coffee girl year-round, and this is the perfect Autumnal drink for me!

One thing I always recommend doing when you are trying out a new coffee shop is asking the barista what their current favorite coffee or tea order is. So, of course, I had to ask the baristas at Copper Cup what their go-to drink orders are at the moment.  Their response was: “We are all about the Fall flavors right now”!

In no particular order, the current favorites of the Mount Joy baristas are Iced Coffee with Pumpkin Cold Foam, Copper Lattes (their signature latte with honey and cinnamon mixed with espresso, and your choice of milk), and the Maple Bourbon Latte.  As a side note, you should also try the pumpkin cold foam on an iced chai latte, you won’t regret it! The pumpkin paired with the spiciness of the chai is just perfection.

In addition to their fall drinks, they also have delicious food items on their menu.  The fall menu includes items like pumpkin chia pudding, a salted Nutella cookie bar, and stunning iced sugar cookies.  All of these items are provided by their sister store, Cake & Cup Bake Shop, as well as sandwiches provided by their other sister store, Tomato Pie Cafe!

So, whether you’re busy and constantly on the go, looking for a place to have a coffee while getting work done, or just want somewhere to unwind while enjoying a bite to eat, Copper Cup has got you covered. You can’t go wrong with any of their seasonal, or permanent, food and drink options, or the friendly environment found within the old bank. Be sure to stay up to date on their changing seasonal menus and other updates by following them on their social media, or by signing up for their newsletter. If you’ve tried Copper Cup recently, we would love to hear what your go-to order is, we are always looking to get out of our box and try something new and delicious!
