The Character Coffee Experience

By Crystal Laureano

Character Coffee can be found at various events all over Central PA, so you have got to keep tabs on them via social to know where to grab their delicious drinks!  Through their coffee cart, Character Coffee hopes to be more than just a stop to refuel your energy, but an experience.  They firmly believe that good things can happen over a great cup of coffee, and honestly, I tend to agree.  How many times have you had a great meeting over coffee or shared stories of happiness, sorrow, or excitement?

One thing that I love about following Meg, the founder of Character Coffee, on social is seeing how she is always supportive of other small businesses.  Whether it is trying out another coffee shop, eating at a food truck, or hyping up the events she’s attending, the messages are always positive and uplifting.  If you ask me, that’s the type of business owner I love to support, and the fact that she makes coffee–even better!

While you can always find them at various events throughout the year, you can also book them for an event of your own! Great for a business event, wedding, or any other special day you have coming up.  Honestly, I feel like I missed an opportunity when I got married, but I will blame it on my late-blooming love for coffee.

I’ll admit, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to be at the right spot at the right time to get a good cup from Character, but I can promise it doesn’t disappoint!  Every time I’ve stopped by I’ve been greeted with a friendly face, kindness, and a great latte!  One of my favorite things is to check out seasonal drink specials, and the holiday season is probably my favorite, due to the coffee flavors, the magic of the season, and the overall joy I feel at this time of year.  As far as seasonal flavors, if I had to choose, I’d say peppermint is my favorite flavor for drinks during the holiday season, and in this, Character does not disappoint!  If you feel the same as I do, be sure to try out their Dickens drink, which is peppermint and white chocolate, or their (quite literally the most delicious I’ve ever had) Polar Express peppermint hot cocoa!  Hot cocoa is always a big hit with my kids, and the fact that it’s named after their favorite holiday movie makes it even more fun for them.

You can head out to try one of these delicious drinks, or another from their great menu, this weekend!  They’ll be at an event at the Star Barn in Elizabethtown on Saturday and out at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster on Sunday for the Gifts that Give Hope Lancaster event!  The Gifts that Give Hope event is one I look forward to every year, and in the years I’ve attended Character has been a staple.  So join Character Coffee and me this weekend to give back, grab a great cup of coffee, eat some delicious food, and learn about some of the amazing non-profit organizations that could use your support in the area.

Until then, in staying true to Character Coffee’s mission, I hope you have a chance to connect with an old friend, tell some great stories, offer support, and meet some new friendly faces over a great cup of coffee!
